The performing arts I grew up acting, directing, and writing and performing music. After I graduated from the conservatory in 1991, I mostly gave it all up. Aside from an odd job here and there (and a film score I wrote), my instruments gathered dust in a closet. Then on New Year's Eve, 1997/98, I played with The Human Torches at Anon Salon. Here are some grainy pictures of that event. (I'm the feller with the snazzy hat.) I spent a lot of 1998 looking for performing opportunities, and ended up playing with a few Salsa and cover bands. The search petered out by mid-year, though, and those essays never came to much. I reevaluated my priorities and started playing trombone again, band or no band, in early 1999.
