Improving on the idea of distributed PR
-
Dividing tasks into three parts:
-
Research
-
Coordination
-
Delivery
-
Research
-
Tracking journalists: Who's already writing about free software?
-
Defining publications' interests relative to free software
-
Identifying trends (and batting around ideas) based on advocacy
results
-
Creating and maintaining publicly available support materials
for general use (spec sheets, customer lists, customer quotes,
etc.). Printable PDF (or similar) as well as online.
-
Coordination
-
Central, Web-based repository for submitting and viewing initiative
proposals
-
Definitive database of links to articles on free software, relational
with authors/editors of those pieces. (Like Spam News)
-
Database of which advocate "owns" what periodicals/journalists
-
Feedback system to ensure information is correct
-
Delivery
-
Very much as in John's proposal, except that it's more ongoing
and two-way
-
Sending information in preferred format (e-mail, phone, fax)
-
Big stories (as defined by vote) could be eligible for paid distribution
(?). This would require a fund for that purpose.
